Brief Description of Software
Subscribers to Regulatory Information Services are provided with a software
package that consists of two components: Database and User Software.
The Database is an electronic database that contains the bibliographic data
and full texts of the regulatory documents in use in Kazakhstan, and the User
Software is used to retrieve and work with the information stored in the
Database.
The two-component structure of the software enables different software
installations. The Database can be installed on one personal computer for use by
one employee (in single-user mode) or on a server for use by a group of
employees via a network (in multi-user mode).

Database
The Database is one component of the software provided to subscribers to the
Regulatory Information Services.
- Brief Description
- The Database of Industry Standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan is an electronic database containing bibliographic data and full texts of the regulatory documents in use in Kazakhstan.. The Database contains codes, regulations, standards, technical specifications, instructions, guidelines, manuals, recommended procedures, handbooks, ordinances, notices, orders, directives and other legal and technical regulatory documents. The documents in the Database are categorized to simplify document retrieval. The database is constantly monitored and regularly updated.
- Languages
- All information is stored in the Database in two languages Russian and English.*
- Terms for Delivery
- The Database is licensed to the Regulatory Information Services subscribers.
- Terms for Installation and Use
- The terms for installation and use of the Database are regulated by the Database End-User License. One license allows installation and use of one copy of the Database on one internal or external storage device.
- User Modes
- Single-user mode (one user on a personal computer) or multi-user mode (many users in a network). Since the Database only stores information, it does not have an integrated user interface. The User Software must be installed at the workstations to use the Database.
- Hardware Requirements
- For single-user mode, see the hardware requirements for the User Software. To use the Database in multi-user mode, the computer where the Database is installed must have a network adapter or network card with a data rate of at least 10 Mbps.
- Operating System
- If the Database is installed on the users computer, see the operating system requirements for installation of the User Software.
If the Database is to be used in multi-user mode, it can be installed on any storage device accessible to the users in the network. The Database installation program should be started from a computer using the Windows operating system.
3-5 gigabytes of free space on a hard disk drive are needed to install the Database.
* The texts of the documents are in the original language.
User Software
The User Software is the other component of the software provided to subscribers to the Regulatory Information Services.
- Brief Description
- The User Software is used to access the Database. With the User Software, you can find and retrieve information, view the bibliographic information and full texts of documents, search the text of an open document, and print documents.
- Languages
- The User Software is provided in two languages (Russian and English).
- Terms for Delivery
- The User Software is provided free to subscribers to the Regulatory Information Services.
- Terms for Installation and Use
- The terms for installation and use of the User Software are regulated by the User Software License. One license allows installation and use of one copy of the User Software on one personal computer used as a workstation. The license is provided free of charge.
- Hardware Requirements
- 200 MHz or faster microprocessor; at least 64 MB of RAM; at least 50 MB of free space on hard drive; VGA or higher-resolution monitor; CD-ROM; mouse; USB port; network card with data rate of at least 10 Mbps (to access the Database if it is installed in remote hardware).
- Operating System
- Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
